Before going to the doctor for the treatment of acne scars one should consult his doctor first. One should tell about his feelings of acne scars. The dermatologist will examine the body and will determine if he needs the treatment. Acne scar makes uncomfortable to the physical appearance of a person. The main purpose of the acne treatment is to give a more acceptable physical appearance to the person who is the victim of acne scars. But the treatment will not recover the past look of the person fully but it will, improve the appearance of the skin.

There are many types of treatment available for acne scar. These are Collagen injection, Autologous fat transfer, Dermabrasion, Microdermabrasion etc.
Collagen is a normal substance of the body and is injected under the skin. When the collagen are derived from cows or other non-human sources, cannot be used for the people who have autoimmune diseases. They have to use human collagen. The cosmetic benefits of the using of collagen last for 3 to 6 months. But it requires additional costs.
There is another process of the treatment. It is autologous fat transfer. The fat is taken from a body part and is injected into the skin. It elevates depressed scars. This treatment process prepares the deep contour defects. The fat which is injected through the skin will reabsorb after six to eighteen months. So, this procedure should be repeated.

The most effective treatment of acne scars is dermabrasion. In this treatment process a high speed brushor fraise used to remove the surface skin and alter the contour of scars while in the microdermabrasion treatment process, aluminium oxide crystal passing through a vacuum tube is used to remove surface skin. But it does not work effectively for all kinds of people. It may cause changes in pigmentation to the darker skinned people.
