Topical Acne Treatment

Benzoyl peroxide kills the acne bacteria by unblocking oil gland pores. There are different types of products available. But lower concentration will be given from the counter or pharmacies without doctor permission while higher strengths require a prescription.

But the most effective type of medications for unblocking pores of oil glands is retinoid. It is known that acne is of different types of which most common type is whiteheads and blackheads. For the treatment of these two types of acnes retinoids are the first choice of medications. There are different types of retinoids. These are tretinonoin, adapalene, tazarotene and isotretinoin etc. The doctor will prescribe which treatment will be suitable for the patient. There are some topical acne antibiotics also. These are clindamycin, Erythromycin and sulfacetamide. These are anti inflammatory and the doctor advices the patient what types of medication is needed for him.

Azalaic acid is also used for topical acne treatment. It is also anti inflammatory. Some products are used combined if necessary for treatment. These are Topical retinoid with erythromycin, Topical benzoyl peroxide with erythromycin, Topical benzoyl peroxide with clindamycin etc.

There are different types of acne treatment available. Some medicines have side effects. One must consider some things before selecting acne treatment types. He should consider the severity level of acne, personal goal to therapy, effectiveness of the treatment and possible side effects and the personal preference.
